POM (Polyoxymethylene)
聚甲醛 / Polyoxymethylen / 폴리옥시메틸렌
A thermoplastic general-purpose engineering plastic with excellent mechanical properties (such as strength, fatigue resistance, sliding performance, and wear resistance) as well as chemical resistance.
Automotive parts, screws, gears, fuel pump modules, electronic components, household goods, medical devices etc
Manufacturing process
※This process is just one example, and the manufacturing methods vary by company.
reaction
Due to the exothermic nature of the polymerization reaction, the polymer precipitates and the raw materials undergo phase transitions (from slurry to paste, and then solid masses). As a result, the equipment may become inoperable due to overload, or heat removal efficiency may decrease due to material adhesion.
The twin-screw continuous kneader "KRC Kneader" can stably process raw materials that undergo phase transitions by the following mechanical characteristics. (It is also possible to connect two or more kneaders in series.)
Adhesion is minimized by the self-wiping function of the paddles.
Kneading is performed with a uniform residence time distribution (plug flow).
Removal of kneading heat by cooling through the jacketed barrel
of reaction
To terminate the reaction, it is required to thoroughly disperse the polymerization terminator, however, adhesion of raw materials to the barrel wall may reduce the heat removal efficiency.
The twin-screw continuous kneader "KRC Kneader" enables stable dispersion of the terminator while suppressing material adhesion, by the following mechanical features.
Adhesion is minimized by the self-wiping function of the paddles.
Kneading is performed with a uniform residence time distribution (plug flow).
Excellent dispersion effect achieved by paddles with small clearances
